Ask the students why a bunny can not live in a pond or a nest or with a groundhog?

Go over vocabulary words, habitat, shelter, bog, pond, den, burrow, and dwelling.

Give the students an explanation of what animals live in a nest, pond or under the ground and why.

Have students pretend to help The Lost Animals find their homes.  Pass out The Lost Animal sheet and provide them with websites.  Ask them to use the provided websites to help them with there research on getting the animals to their correct home.

Look to see if students identified the homes the animals lived in and labeled and drew     the animal’s home correctly

K. Lesson Extension

Pull out students for small group discussion with more references and pictures of animal homes, such as Animal Homes by Illa Podendorf

Have students build a bird’s nest out of natural materials and learn about the different kinds of bird nests.
