Dr.Judy Reinhartz is currently the Associate Dean and Professor of Science Education at The University of Texas at El Paso. She is working collaboratively with faculty and school personnel in promoting educational excellence for teachers and students in the El Paso border area. Before joining UTEP, she was a Professor and Science Educator at University of Texas at Arlington for thirty-two years. Her major teaching assignment was teaching science to elementary, middle, and secondary pre-service and in-service teachers at the undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition, she taught educational research, curriculum, development, leadership capacity building. One of the highlights of her teaching career came in 1985 when she received The University of Texas at Arlington Amoco Outstanding Teaching Award. She also received several other awards including: Ted Booker Outstanding Contributions to Teacher Education in Texas in 1990 and the Kyle Killough for Outstanding Contributions to Teacher Education in Texas in 1994. Dr.Reinhartz was also nominated for the prestigious statewide Minnie Piper Award four times representing the University.    
 
 
Dr. Reinhartz held various leadership roles including:  
the center for research , Director of Field Experiences, Graduate Advisor, and the Coordinator of Pre-College Programs and Distinguished Faculty Lecture Series. She has been the director of: numerous institutes and academies including the UT Arlington Regional Collaborative for Excellence in Science Teaching,  Teacher Researcher academy, Physical Science, Physics, Chemistry and earth science Academies.  She has received numerous grants to support each of these programs.  Before beginning her collegiate career, Dr. Reinhartz taught science and served as science department chair.  After early over four decades her love for teaching science has not waned.
